From the East Coast to San Diego
The first leap into homeownership can seem scary, but after moving back to San Diego from the East Coast, Kyle and Christina were ready to make the move from being renters to being homeowners. It was tempting to compromise on their dream - stretching their search further from the beach increased their prospects for finding a home, but in the end the 3 rules of real estate (location, location, location) prevailed. This young family found an amazing community, less than a mile from the beach, and at a great price point for first time home buyers just starting their path of homeownership. We're always so honored when friends choose us to help them buy or sell their homes, and Sun was honored that his good friends allowed him to guide them in their journey to homeownership!
Oceanside Was the Dream
The Ocons knew they were ready to lay roots in San Diego after moving around with the military. The home search journey began for Sara, Micah and their daughter Avalon, in the height of soaring home prices, with new listings lasting just a few days on the market. Working with a tight timeline before Micah was scheduled to be away for military training- it was a race against the clock! Either buy now, or potentially months down the road! After getting pre-approved, they quickly jumped into the home search process. With little inventory on the market, the limited options seemed discouraging. They decided to widen their search, even though Oceanside was the dream. After touring a house they loved, a kind neighbor came out and gave them the 411 on some issues the neighborhood was having with pipes and saved them from an inspection nightmare. She also shared about another home nearby that may be a good option. It was bigger than they needed, and at the top of their price range, but they made a 180 and went to check it out. WOW - they were thrilled they did! This was everything they were looking for and more! A 3 bedroom in Oceanside with room to grow AND opportunity for rental income. Because the kind neighbor put in a good word with the selling agent, the deal was negotiated over the phone and deal was sealed without going into counter offers, quite the feat in that market! (Thank you Norma, the neighbor!) What they thought would be a long hard home search, turned out to be an easy 1.5 week search before going into escrow! They closed and got keys with enough time to get moved in as a family before Micah was off to training, and now Sara and Avalon have their new home to settle into.
Finding the One
Being a military couple, Michael & Bailey bounced around from station to station, and state to state, with nowhere really being “home.” When they decided to move back to San Diego County, Michael reached out to agent Jaylene on social media and they hit the ground running. With their handsome little son, Nico, and 4 dogs, backyard space was #1 on the must-have list. After searching through countless condos & townhomes all across North County, a townhome with a backyard space big enough for the family finally popped onto the market! While working on getting their pre-approval finalized, the couple decided that if the condo is still available when they got their pre-approval, then it is meant to be. If the seller accepted another offer, then it wasn't meant to be their home. The delay in making the offer turned out to be a huge stroke of luck, because day later, a single family home came onto the market, and it checked all of their boxes and more. While pictures are nice, sometimes real estate listing photos are deceiving, so Bailey and Jaylene jumped to see the home that same day at 9pm. It was late, but it was worth it - the home exceeded their expectations! It even saved them money over the condo because of a lower interest rate and no HOA, and they snagged a bigger backyard, an extra bedroom, a larger garage, newer looking kitchen, and more square footage! After years of not settling, Michael and Bailey were able to find their perfect home in their hometown.
